Gems Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at St Paul Lutheran Church.  Doors are open at 6:00 pm and locked at 6:45 pm.

Visitors: There is no charge for a first time visit to the Gems Meeting unless there is a posted Guest Fee for the Program. A visitor log will be maintained.  Subsequent visits will incur a $5 fee for a regular meeting / or the posted Visitor Fee for the program.  If one chooses to become a member, all visitor fees paid in the calendar year will go towards the $30 Gems Membership 

Special Events and Workshops are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church unless otherwise noted.  Fees are noted if applicable for Members..

Gems Meeting October 2, Tara Curtis “Wefty Needle – Innovative crafts”

Tara inventor of the Wefty Needle will tell us about how new innovations are impacting the quilting industry.

Special Events Workshop: October 3 “WEFTY Weaving Panel” Full day, NO SEWING MACHINE NEEDED!

Member Fee $45  Non Member Fee $55

Walk through every step of the weaving process to learn solid, ombre, or rainbow stars patterns.  Students will make a woven panel 16 x 18 inches, and includes instructions for pillow or a tote bag.  www.weftyneedle.com

 

October 6, 2019, 1:00-4:00 pm Civil War Quilt Exhibit at the Canton Area Heritage Center. The quilt was created to assist Civil War veterans and their families and auctioned in October, 1889. The Piecers of the Midwest in Fulton County will have present-day quilts on display, too. Museum hours are Friday, 10am-12, Saturday, 10am-2pm, and Sunday, 1-4pm. October 17, 2019, 6:00 pm.  Gems Joint Committee Chairs Meeting.  Schnucks on North University Peoria.

 

November to Remember:  November 1  5:00pm to November 2 at  3:00 pm. at the Life Together Center.  Cost for the weekend is $35.

There will be goodie bags for everyone, door prizes and other ways to receive prizes. If you don’t want to stay awake the whole time there will be bunkhouse space for you to lay out your bedroll. There is also a sign up list for both help setting up and taking down N2R, setting up/taking down meals. We also ask that you sign up to bring food stuffs for our meals. (this helps keep the costs down.)
So please come join old friends, make new friends and have a great 23 hours to sew, sew, sew!

Gems Meeting November 6, Ann Loveless, Collage-like “Landscape Art Quilts” $10 non member fee applies

Ann’s inspiration and designs come from nature and the beautiful lakes and woods of Northwest and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Ann works from photographs and has developed three distinctive quilting techniques. www.quiltsbyann.com
